Hone Your Own
As humans, we love the idea of ownership. We love to control, to possess. It's natural. It's in our DNA. It's who we are. It's who we've always been.
Everyone wants their own; someone to call ours, and ours alone. Someone whose wahala and shakara we can handle. Someone we can raise a family with, someone we can grow in-love, and in the knowledge of Christ, with. Someone who gets it.
Being possessive has its pros and cons. It can be romantic with the right gestures, but obsessive when our emotions get the best of us. Loving someone, and wanting them to love us and us alone, is something we all wish and pray for. For some, these feelings are torturous. It reveals a void in our hearts, one which desperately craves love and attention.
So, here's a thought; instead of giving into our desires to own our partners, why don't we hone our ability to love unconditionally. If we can do this, we'll win their hearts over in one full sweep. That way, we will be loved just as we desire, and no amount of emotional manipulation will be required to coherse love from our (future) partners.
